Ettleton Churchyard
Things to do in Newcastleton Scottish Borders
Archaeological-Sites in Scotland
Description: No trace survives of the mediaeval church which served the parish of Ettleton until 1604, except for the collection of carved stones set into the graveyard wall. Amongst these are several mediaeval tomb slabs and a cross head. The churchyard stands between the enclosed landscape of narrow strips, which represent 18th century land allocations to the local community, and the upland grazing where traces of the mediaeval fields still survive.
